Fishing Good At Barrier Islands & Mississippi Sound

Barrier Islands & Mississippi Sound, Mississippi 05-14-09 06:00 AM ( about 3 hours )

The last 3 days of fishing has led to excellent catches of sand sea trout a.k.a. "white trout", southern kingfish a.k.a. "ground mullet", as well as some fine speckled trout, tripletail, and Florida pompano.

Took one man out on Thursday and he caught 1 nice tripletail, 2 Florida pompano, 1 black drum, 40 or more big white trout that we left biting, 4 big speckled trout (one a beautiful 5.5-pound specimen), 2 beautiful flounders, 1 big 5-pound spadefish, and all of the ladyfish one cared to battle.

Had Wes Raybon, Melissa Raybon, Jim Raybon, and Beth Todd for half a day trips on Friday and Saturday, and they fished hard to go home with a fine mess of fresh fish fillets.

On the first afternoon trip they boxed 32 white trout and a nice tripletail. That was a good warm up for the following morning, for they easily boxed 90 big "yellow-mouth" white trout and ground mullet, as well as a 3.5-pound speckled trout.

Those big white trout were on fire and we left them biting due to the weather looking nasty. However, in just a matter of a few hours they loaded up with fish, and were back at the D'Iberville Marina before noon. Great light tackle fun!

When in Biloxi, Gulfport, or Ocean Springs, MS area just give me a call and we'll create some fishing memories of your own.

Remember...life is short...let's fish!
