Barrier Islands & Back Bay, Mississippi 04-23-09 06:00 AM ( about 6 hours )
Ran to the barrier islands yesterday, and managed to land 4 nice redfish, as well as 3 beautiful and tasty Florida pompano.
Yes, it was still windy, but not as bad as its been in the last couple of weeks. Man was it good to catch our first Florida pompano of the new season. Hopefully, a great run on these exotic-like fish will be as strong as last summers big run.
Have some beautiful places to fish for them, and it's just a lot of fun catching those hard fighting fish. Of course the bull redfish were scattered all about the surf, and they are a hoot to battle on those open sand flats too. The beauty of fishing the barriers isles is that you never really know what you might see or catch out there.
Stopped at the Ocean Springs Harbor Reef on the way in, and quickly put 25 white trout in the box to end the day. Hey, there are fish out there to catch, and when this windy weather finally decides to settle down, well, expect some top-notch fishing in south Mississippi.
So when you're down here in the land of Southern Hospitality look me up, and we'll crerate fishing memories of your own.
