Back Bay & Back bay of Biloxi, Mississippi 03-30-09 06:00 AM ( about 2 hours )
A trip on March 30, 2009 with come back clients Nick Horne, his wife Logan, Brittany Bailey, and Greg Burkhalter led to a nice mess of fish despite high seas and muddy water conditions.
This group fished hard, and in the end boated 65 nice white trout, 3 big ground mullet, and a 5-pound-black drum. Caught the majority of fish using popping corks, and they had a lot of fun watching those corks take the plunge.
Although we had fresh dead squid and shrimp, fresh cut croaker was deadly suppended just off the bottom under the popping corks in murky water conditions.
On Saturday, April 4, 2009, my come back clients were Richard Murphy, his girl friend April, and Andy Sander. Like the formentioned group, these men have fished with me before, and we always manage to catch fish and have a great time.
Fished the Gulf Park Estates Reef, Ocean Springs Small Craft Harbor Reef, and the mouth of the Back Bay of Biloxi for black drum. We caught fish at all stops, including white trout under popping corks at the GPER, and on bottom rigs at the OSSCHR, and black drum on bottom rigs near the Ocean Springs/Biloxi Bridge near the draw area.
This group's final tally included: 50 nice white trout, a couple of ground mullet, 7 black drum. One of the drum was a beautiful fish in the 40-pound class, and gave Richard a tremendous fight on light tackle. After pictures the big fish was safely released to fight another day.
It's only going to get better once Mother nature decides to give us a break. So if we can catch fish in these horrible conditions, just think of the wonderful fishing adventures ahead of us this summer aboard TEAM BRODIE CHARTERS.
