FRIDAY, MARCH 6, 2009
CLIENTS: Don & Brad Thomason of Alabama
AREA: Back Bay of Biloxi & Tchoutacabouffa River
FISHING METHODS: Botom fishing and free-lining live shrimp
TIME FISHED: 7 am to 1:30 pm
TIDE: Rising
Wind: Southerly 10 to 15-knots
FISHING GEAR: Same as above
SPECIES CAUGHT: 5 speckled trout, 1 flounder, 15 sheepshead, 3 throwback redfish, and "2" 6 to 9-pound freshwater catfish
On this day we found the big sow sheepshead late, and filled the live well within an hour or so. The bite was very suttle, and it took concentration to hook the fine sheepshead. Live shrimp was the ticket to success, and found the big sows staging at the mouth of the bay.
The run on southern kingfish "ground mullet" and sand sea trout "white trout" is about to take off. So be sure to get you kids in on this fantastic fish catching fun. No limits and they are excellent eating!
