BIG SPECKS IN COASTAL RIVERS

February 26, 2009
W400

Tchoutacabouffa River, Mississippi 02-26-09 06:00 AM ( about 8 hours )

On this trip my clients were Curtis Parsons, Eric Dalsin, and Jacob Washbourne. Started out the day in the Back Bay of Biloxi, and a slow bite produced 8 sheepshead.

One big black drum was hooked up for a short while, but he pulled off. Nothing broke, but the hook just came loose. Decided to make a run up the coastal rivers, and by the end of the day a good bite turned on.

Seven big speckled trout were landed, and two freshwater catfish made for a mixed bag. Ran out of live shrimp, although we started out with $30 worth that day. Could have caught some more big specks if the live bait wasn't used up, but the trip ended on a good note never the less.

This was a great bunch of guys, and I expect them to fish Florida pompano and big redfish with me this summer. Anyway, I'll be back out on Saturday with a cold front approaching, and hope to find my regular comeback client a few of those big specks.
