Barrier Island Pompano

August 17, 2008
W400

Ship Island, Mississippi 08-17-08 06:00 AM ( about 2 hours )

Fished Ship Island and the Katrina Reef a few days ago. One of my charters on August 15 resulted in 75 white trout and ground mullet, as well as 9 beautiful Florida pompano. The group consisted of Hoyt Williams, John Baxter, and Conrad. This was an excellent outing with a really fun group of anglers.

Fished the barrier islands again on Sunday, and landed 8 more fine pompano in less than 2 hours of fishing, as well as plenty of big high-leaping ladyfish, small sharks, and bluefish. The pompano are still going strong, and my clients have really been enjoying the shallow water angling.

White trout, ground mullet, and some big speckled trout have been doing well at the reefs, and over all fishing in south Mississippi is going great.

Thanks earlybird! They had a great time landing those hard fighting fish on light spinning gear. Could have caught a few on a fly rod on that day. Regards, Capt. Robert L. Brodie of TEAM BRODIE CHARTERS
