Pompano Plentiful At Mississippi's Barrier Islands

July 9, 2008
W400

Ship Island, Mississippi, Mississippi 07-09-08 06:00 AM ( about 6 hours )

Another magnificent day at the barrier islands. Pompano jumping all through the shallows, and the bite was excellent. My guests were Ben Benoit and Ted Baer, and the hot bite produced 18 gorgeous Florida pompano.

What can I say, gin clear waters full of the world-class eating pompano, and they had a good appetite. Few anglers target this species in south Mississippi, but I do, and they make for great light tackle fun.

Plus, you'll get to battle plenty of high-leaping and hard fighting bluefish and ladyfish in the process.

Remember...life is short...let's fish!
