Point No Point, Washington 08-05-08 06:00 AM ( about 2 hours )
Went out early morning on Tuesday before work. Hit PNP close to 6 and started trolling with one other boat there. Was heading south of the point with the tide when the rod bumps - a light hit. Tina grabs the rod, and I can hear the reel sing!
Turned the motors slightly to start circling and went back to clear gear. I had just spooled new mono on all the reels the night before after breaking a couple in the last couple weeks, and its paying off. Had everything ready, and the fish hasn't gotten any closer yet. I didn't want to check the drag in case its a big fish. The fish made some 5-10 long runs already, and the nice 10.5' rod is keeping a good tension on it.
The boat had made 2 huge circles by now, and the fish is finally getting close! Tina's starting to get a little tired, and kept begging me to help. I finally helped by propping her rod up with one hand so she can keep cranking. A few minutes later, the fish surfaces, and it's a pig! A couple of passes on the net, and its in!
Fish taped out at 33" long and 22" around - 20lb. Making this her biggest King so far!
